BACK TO WORK

The film was originally made for the RODE short film competition in 2021. It was later submitted to the FilmFreeway festival circuit from 2021-2022. It was nominated Best Original Screenplay at the Cannes short film festival, and made Semi-Finalist in the London Indie short film festival and won an award for Exceptional Achievement at the MDIFF in 2022.

Back To Work was co-produced by Marlisa and Glass Mountain Films. Marlisa wrote the screenplay in response to the 'new normal' post 2020-2021 lockdowns.

JUST A CAR

The film was originally made for the Mercedes-Benz Bokeh film festival in Cape Town in 2017. It was later submitted to the FilmFreeway festival circuit from 2017-2020. It won awards at the LA Shorts Competition & The Sofies in 2017, and won Best Short Film at The Olympus film festival in L.A. in 2019. Just a car was produced, co-directed and written by Marlisa, who made the film in memory of her late father.

LONELY LIGHTS

Lonely Lights was inspired by the heart-wrenching observations Marlisa confronted daily whilst living in Cape Town and the disparity between rich and poor. The story depicts a friendship between two children from the opposite sides of society. Produced, directed and written by Marlisa for the 48 hour film project, 2015.

THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES

Marlisa felt inspired to join her production team up to Eve Ensler's global campaign and brought VDAY to Cape Town for five years, from 2016-2020. Marlisa directed, produced and sometimes appeared in The Vagina Monologues, as well as other VDAY benefit plays like MMRP. Benefit productions were hosted at various sponsored venues every February, raising funds for South African charities. In 2020 her team raised over 10k for

Rape Crisis.

RELATIONSHIT!

It could happen to you

Marlisa wrote this play based on her college days in London. It is a fly-on-the-wall approach to relationships and the insane but intimate things people argue about behind closed doors.
It is a comedy set in the year 1999 and points to the uncertainty and changes around the millennium. Marlisa confesses to have been massively influenced by her addiction (at the time) to tv programs like 'Friends' and 'Sex and the City.' Marlisa directed and produced the play several times in the UK and South Africa from 2001-2011
